Jeffrey Smalls is President and CEO of Smalls Electrical Construction, Inc.  Mr. Smalls was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.  He graduated from William E. Grady High School in 1989 and attended New York City Technical College where he studied Electrical Technology.

While in college Mr. Smalls gained his experience working as an Electrician for several large Electrical Contractors before becoming a Foreman where he was responsible for the completion of single projects with values over $40 Million.  Mr. Smalls also attended Borough of Manhattan Community College and New York University.  He received his Master Electrician’s License in 1997, becoming the youngest licensee in New York City the same year he founded Smalls Electrical Construction, Inc., whose primary customers include the MTA-New York City Transit, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the New York State Department of Transportation.

After hiring many high school graduates and training them to become Project Managers and Estimators, Mr. Smalls took the lead in saving the construction trades at one of NYC’s last remaining high school campuses from elimination by co-founding Bronx Design and Construction Academy (BDCA) in 2009. BDCA ensures that students of the South Bronx are properly trained to be Carpenters, Plumbers, Electricians, HVAC Mechanics as well as offering Pre-Engineering and Architecture endorsed diplomas.

Mr. Smalls also serves on the Advisory Board of the Transportation Diversity Council. He HeHis a member of the Building Trades Employers’ Association, the New York Electrical Contractors Association and the National Electrical Contractors Association.  Smalls Electrical Construction, Inc., is also affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union #3.

Jeffrey Smalls has received honors such as “40 Under Forty” by The Network Journal, INC. Magazine as one of the 500 fastest-growing companies nationwide.  Mr. Smalls was also named as one of Crain’s New York Business’ Top Entrepreneurs’, and placed #38 on the Top 100 Specialty Contractors in the state by New York Construction Magazine.
